Online Social Existence: Craigslist.org

by Carla on February 4, 2009

Craigslist is not my favourite site, however it is worth a mention when it comes to social communities and its advertising model is pretty impressive too however we wont get into that here.

Craigslist supports the online community in providing all types of information that is organised per area. This resources helps one locate information primarily according to location but then on a deeper level by specific topic. Craigslist to is simlar to having the NY classifieds at ones finger tips eventhough one is physically displaced from this location.
Craigslist is a valuable tool in terms of having a global go-to classifieds that is entirely free and highly resourceful. It aids knowledge management because its network instruments allows traceability back to the author, even though it still ensures that individuals privacy. Engaging in open conversation that is viewable to all make this information very productive and in instances of a sale; conclusive. In addition to this communal participation aspect such a frequency of use and level of involvement lead to trust in terms of a resource, thus enhancing an individual’s credibility as a seller or information provider. Queries, requests and feedback are publicly displayed.
Individuals may not be able to personally organise information they find, however filtering out information through the categories provided is a functional tool which most importantly lets one find information that is valid to them.

Check out Craigslist.com here

And if you want a laugh, they have a section dedicated to hilarious postings. Check it out here
