I know a lot of my readers are curious however a little sceptical about certain tools and applications on the web.
Something that i have been using for quite some time now is Twitter. I use it to get word about about my new blog posts mostly as I know that people arent really interested in my ever single move. That said it is a great way to learn about new things and share them which is what Web 2.0 is essentially about.

So here is a simple video about what is twitter for all those people who dont know about it yet (Yes mum its for you – Now that you have got facebook down – its time for something new!)
Funnily enough this video is about a user whose name is Carla!

We all love to hate twitter, micro blogging is a very odd concept.

I agree! I think the most annoying thing about Twitter for me is that there is so many micro blog posts to digest! That said I have read some pretty interesting articles. Overall despite the micro blogging concept I think for most of us its just information overload!

It helps you’re a picky about who you follow. Magazine/webzine tweets beat mailing lists and RSS feeds for me. As for personal tweets … why follow someone if you don’t find what they say interesting?

I don’t think it’s boring, it’s all in how you use it! I get all of my news updates now on Twitter, and quicker than I normally would. This is very helpful for my line of work. I agree with you in the sense that it’s dumb to talk about “what i’m doing.” Plus, many businesses are getting on Twitter, and although many of might might think this is lame (it kinda is), I get tons of deals through Twitter, especially with local hotels and retail outlets. Local businesses give big discounts to their Twitter follows. I bet you’ll like Twitter better if you use it this way!

Twitter is a very powerful internet marketing tool .. having about 12k followers, I can send 30 to 40 people instantly to any article I want ..
Imagine if you have 100k followers for example ?

It looks like Twitter may be moving from just another 5 min entertainment thing to something more useful like sharing stuff – Friendfeed kind of thing but on steroids I guess.
Carla- Yeah, there’s a lot to digest but then it’s easy to scan to at least. Have you tried Tweetdeck? Separate accounts for separate interests combined with Tweetdeck works quite well for me.
Oh yeah and http://su.pr/ is a great short URL service – It gives you the analytics but also connects with Stumble users, which can get you some extra traffic.

Twitter is a bit odd at first, that is for sure. But I think the more you use it and get into it, the more addicting it gets. I just love using it now!

Been using twitter for a week now. Other than celebrities, stalkers, marketers and spammers there might be about 1% left of other types of users.

There are a lot of social network nowadays. Twitter had been around for quite some time now. I think the latest craze is facebook. I had been a member of twitter but consider my self a newbie to this site because i had not been active really.

Twitter is actually pretty cool! I’ve been enjoying using it.. however I’m sticking to using it for personal use instead of business as some others I’ve seen. I unfollow anyone that tweets spams.. or tweets links all the time.
great post

The problem with Twitter is that it seems mostly used by people with far too much time on their hands.
Lots of junk in there, too…

twitter is a good tool ! Twitter is a privately funded startup with offices in the SoMA neighborhood of San Francisco, CA. Started as a side project in March of 2006, Twitter has grown into a real-time short messaging service that works over multiple networks and devices.Thank you
